It is tough to do so by yourself. As we are caught in our belief, it is only possible to be done with coaching, having an external person, the coach leading through questions the deep-diving into the subconscious.

If you directly push your opinion, it won’t work unless the person agrees. Giving your arguments might lead you to some extent, but the more powerful way is to lead, through questions, the person to come to their conclusion. Two options can then happen:
1. They come to the same conclusion as you, but it is theirs, and they adopt it
2. They come to a different option, which means that either your option didn’t fit the context of this person or that there is a better way.
If the person doesn’t entirely come to your conclusion, and you still believe yours is better, let him/her try his/her, and you can ask for feedback after a certain period. This will then require a few steps, but it is crucial not to rush it through.
The coaching method can be applied to this discussion.

To empower your team, you need further to build trust. The team needs to know that you are there to support them and allow them to make mistakes. That way, you can create a deep discussion and collaboration to act as a coach or mentor, discuss their ideas, and hold them accountable. They will be in charge of the projects, bringing their ideas, creating innovation and bringing the team much further than they would be able to do on their own by micromanaging them.
